What's the Green Deal with the word 'Green'?
According to Wikipedia, the word green comes from the
Old English verb grÅwan ("to grow, turn green").
These days, "green" can refer to a way of thinking and
acting, individually, corporately or at the political level, that makes
environmental factors a greater part of the decision-making process.
Specific terms such as certified organic, recyclable,
carbon-neutral, Eco-certified, FSC-certified, etc, are used to more accurately
describe specific benefits of products and processes. Have a look at our Green
Glossary for more information on some of these.
Many agree that efforts toward greater sustainability and
'green' behaviour should be seen as a journey, not a destination. With that in
mind, we hope you enjoy learning more as we continue to discover the real Green
Deal together.
